Lately I have been noticing that a lot of people that are “interested” in fashion (mainly people that pinterest fashions) have NO idea the difference between Leopard, Jaguar, and Cheetah.
As I rummage around pinterest I started noticing that EVERY print short of zebra print was being called leopard. I personally love a jaguar print more than any other. So when I go to search “jaguar,” I end up getting about 20 pins. When searching “leopard” I see a whole lot of jaguar prints and a few cheetahs (mainly cause no one cares about the cheetah print).
THE DIFFERENCE!!
Cheetah is more of like little random polka dots. No true pattern to them, enclosed circles of black. The colors are a light tan with a black spot.
Jaguar is a patterned cat print that consist of almost square-like “circles” with dots in the center of the circles. These circles are not necessarily enclosed either, they are broken dashes that create a square-like spot. The colors are like a tan/brown with black spots. The jaguar “spot” is big compared to a leopard’s spot.
Leopard is VERY similar to jaguar EXCEPT that leopard does not have dots inside their spots like the jaguar does. The colors are a light tan base color with black spots and a dark tan inside the spots.
PLEASE label correctly and correct others when they have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to cat prints.
That concludes today’s lesson!
